...world-renowned as one of the most unique and iconic experiential shopping, dining and leisure destinations in London’s West End. A destination encompassing 14 streets, including World famous Carnaby Street. It was at the centre of London’s Swinging 60's and has reinvented itself throughout the decades whilst retaining its music and fashion heritage. Public Realm is integral to Carnaby’s curation and we have invested heavily in public realm improvements working closely with Westminster City Council. We spend around £900k each year keeping Carnaby clean and safe for local residents, workers and visitors. There has also been significant investment in public art to enhance the area, with iconic pieces like the Julian Opie “Shaida” (Walking Woman), the Carnaby flag, the Plug and Socket and Light Bulbs on Ganton Street.
Carnaby represents 36% of our total portfolio, which includes over 160 shops, food and beverage outlets, and over 100 residential units.
We ensure that Carnaby continues to provide an excellent habitat for biodiversity in the West End. As well as some green roofs, the area is a hive of activity for bees, with over 1,000 flower window boxes installed, and there are beehives in Carnaby that house more than 40,000 bees. In 2018, we worked with ZSL and the Mayor of London to bring the first of a network of public Water Bottle Refill stations to Carnaby and this can be found in Kingly Court. We will continue to work to improve the environmental sustainability of the Carnaby area working with various organisations and it’s tenants on initiatives such as zero emission deliveries, waste collection consolidation and reducing single use plastics where possible.
